David Shannon, creator of the Caldecott Honor winning No, David! and many other acclaimed books for children, wrote and illustrated his first book when he was five years old. On each page of this first book, David wrote "No, David!" and drew a picture of himself doing things he was not supposed to do. Shannon has maintained the spirit of his boyhood creation with raucous illustrations of David making mischief, but now reminded by his Mommy that, in spite of his scoldings, he is still dearly loved.
